Preface
Established in 1986, National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) with 15 centres spread over the country is a premier institute of International Fashion education. NIFT Entrance Exams offers both Undergraduate and Post Graduate Programmes in the field of Fashion Design and Technology.

UG Programmes (4 Years)

2. Bachelor of Fashion Technology – B.F. Tech. (Apparel Production).

Mode of Written Exams

From this year, B. F. Tech, M.F.M. and M.F.Tech candidates are given the choice of appearing for Paper Based Test (PBT) or Computer Based Test (CBT). For B.Des and M.Des only Paper Based Tests are allowed. Candidates will need to declare their options at the time of application.

The objective type tests will carry 1 mark for each right answer and 0.25 negative marks for each wrong answer.

Creative Ability Test (CAT): This test is aimed at evaluating the intuitive skills, observation power, ingenuity in development of a concept/idea and designing skills of the candidates. Creativity in use of colours and illustration are important aspects of this test.

General Ability Test (GAT): This test comprises of 1) Quantitative Ability 2) Communication Ability 3) English Comprehension 4) Analytical Ability and 5) General Knowledge and Current Affairs. The number of questions in each section may vary in each portion year to year. Details of each component will be as per prospectus. The components vary for B. Des, B.F. Tech, M. Des, M.F.M. and M.F. Tech courses. The details of each component can be found in the prospectus.

Situation Test (for B.Des.): Shortlisted B.Des candidates after appearing for CAT/GAT tests will be called for a situation test to judge their practical skills and ingenuity in handling different materials in a given situation.

Group Discussion (for M.Des/M.F.M./M.F.Tech candidates): Case Study based GD will comprise of 15 to 20 minutes of discussion on an assigned case study on which a panel of experts will assess the candidates on various parameters such as conceptual clarity, interpersonal skills, problem solving skills, leadership qualities, communication skills, knowledge of topic, etc.

Personal Interview: A candidate will be judged on various parameters during individual personal interview by a panel. The panels for the second tier process will be intimated by NIFT to the agency conducting admissions.

Reserved Seats
Out of the above seats, reservation will apply according the following scheme as laid by the Government of India:
• Scheduled Castes: 15%
• Scheduled Tribes: 7.5%
• Other Backward Classes (Non-creamy): 27%
• Physically Handicapped: 3% horizontal reservation for physically handicapped candidates (with 40% or more disability).
