(NID) - NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF DESIGN

The decade of rapid industrialization, in India leads to the growth of National Institute of design in the country. It is internationally acclaimed as one of the finest educational and research institutions for Industrial, Communication, Textile and IT Integrated (Experiential) Design. It is an autonomous institution under the aegis of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India and is as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization.

EDUCATION

The Professional Education at NID has both UG and PG Programmes— Graduate Diploma Programme in Design (GDPD) of four years duration for students after 10+2 or equivalent like AISSCE / IB / ISC, and the Post-Graduate Diploma Program-me in Design (PGDPD) of 2 ½ years duration for graduates from various domains specific to each discipline. NID has three campuses all over the country. They are in-

Communication Design

 

Animation Film Design-The art of visual story-telling has been a part of human culture since the beginning of civilization.

Exhibition Design- Exhibitions design is concerned with display and the creation of viewing experiences.

Film and Video Communication- Film as a medium, is closest to reality, and mirrors every aspect of the human experience.

Graphic design- The design of visual messages and visual culture is the role of the graphic designer.

 

Industrial Design

 

Furniture and Interior Design- Thefocus is on learning by doing, with a strong hands-on approach. Students gain a thorough understanding of form, structure, context and material by building workable prototypes in the workshops and labs

Product Design- Product design is the creation of objects of utilitarian value to people. Products function as part of larger systems.

Textile Design

Textile Design-Textiles are one of human beings oldest creations, and today have a huge range of function and application.

ENTRANCE EXAMPINATION COMPONENTS

1st Phase- NEED
NEED - National Entrance Exam For Designing. The objective of NEED is to measure the candidate’s aptitude for the field of design involving general mental ability, worldview, and sensitivity to environment, creativity, drawing and communication skills.

2ND Phase- Studio Test and Personal Interview
Based on NEED score candidates will be short listed and called directly for next phase of admission — studio tests and personal interviews — for final selection.
